Who We Are
Fort Hays State University has sponsored the Senior Companion Program since 1974. As an AmeriCorps Seniors grantee, FHSU is committed to supporting the social and economic needs of the communities in our region by enriching the lives of those we serve as well as those who serve. Volunteers for the Program must have a desire to make a difference in the lives of adults needing assistance to remain living at home, be 55 years of age or older, and successfully complete the required National Service Criminal History Checks.
What We Do
AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serving with the FHSU Senior Companion Program provide friendship and support to individuals needing assistance to remain living in their homes. Senior Companions may also provide respite for caregivers.
