Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth facing adversity in Ellis County and surrounding area with the vision that they are able to earn a living wage by age 25.
What We Do
We match youth (at no cost to families) with a caring adult mentor in their community who can spend a few hours a month in the community or at school as a role model and friend outside the home. All matches are supported by professional case managers as our Bigs mentor their Littles, helping them build confidence, learn valuable skills, develop healthy behaviors, and graduate high school, to ultimately prepare them for adulthood.
The connections through our program have proven to be essential to youth facing adversity. Youth currently matched to a 1:1 mentor via our program surveyed in 2023 shared:
- 80% maintained or improved their academic performance
- 89% reported improvement in bullying situations
- 91% said they feel less isolated/alone because of their mentor
- 96% said their relationship with their Big is very important to them
- 100% were given the opportunity to learn essential life skills with their mentor
