Volunteer Duty Officers are responsible for dispatching Red Cross volunteers to meet with families impacted by home fires and other disasters so they can provide temporary relief. Must have good phone, computer, and internet skills. Functional Dispatch team members and monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available. Documents incoming disaster notification and creates & verifies events in an internal system, when applicable. May be required to monitor activity across multiple responses. Notify staff of significant events, and contribute to and report, when appropriate. Caseworkers will work with supervisor to determine workload. Each case must be followed-up on weekly. After the initial training, casework can be done from home.
