Blood Transportation Drivers- Another way to support the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross is to become a volunteer transportation specialist and deliver lifesaving blood products. Volunteer transportation specialists play a very important role in ensuring an ample blood supply for patients in need by transporting blood and blood products. Volunteer: Respond quickly to families effected by local disasters (Virtual Dispatch position)

Disaster Duty Officers (Dispatch) are a lifeline to temporary assistance during a disaster. Volunteer Duty Officers are responsible for dispatching Red Cross volunteers to meet with families impacted by home fires and other disasters so they can provide temporary relief. Must have good phone, computer, and internet skills.

Leadership

May determine if Red Cross action is required; may decide if Red Cross will respond. Uses event triggers such as size, scope, and type of the event to direct the response. Works with on-scene leadership to support the response and provide technical guidance. Support and trains new responders.

Functional

Dispatch team members and monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available. Documents incoming disaster notification and creates & verifies events in an internal system, when applicable. May be required to monitor activity across multiple responses. Notify staff of significant events, and contribute to and report, when appropriate. Attends regularly scheduled team meetings as required by supervisor.

Caseworkers are needed to follow-up with victims of home fires and other disasters.

Caseworkers will work with supervisor to determine workload. Each case must be followed-up on weekly. After the initial training, casework can be done from home. Must be comfortable using a computer, talking on the phone, and making connections to community resources.

Key Responsibilities are:

Support the Red Cross mission Maintain strict confidentiality of any case notes, names and other personal information in accordance with Red Cross policies Understand and apply SAF policies, procedures and protocols related to Red Cross client services Support the follow up process to include making follow-up calls to military members and/or families to determine if their needs are met Provide other follow-up actions needed for complete and timely client service Acquire a working knowledge of local, state and federal resources aiding military members, families and veterans Maintain professionalism and conduct as stated in Red Cross policy

Qualifications:
