Volunteer: Senior Companion

Client needs vary and volunteers get to help with the things that they feel comfortable with.

Some examples of things that volunteers may help with are:

Being a good listener, providing companionship and individual attention Providing respite care for family caregivers Assisting with meal planning and preparation, helping with light grocery shopping Assisting with tasks of daily living Monitoring medication or assisting with exercises Assist with light household chores, getting the mail, making the bed, doing dishes, taking out the trash, helping with laundry Accompanying to the doctor for treatment, to nutrition site, to recreational or social events Helping write letters, reading, filling out forms Giving encouragement, taking walks, exercising, participating in activities of interest to the client such as playing cards, games, and hobbies

Volunteer Benefits:
Income eligible volunteers qualify for a stipend
Vacation and Sick leave may be earned
Travel reimbursement
Liability Insurance coverage while serving
Monthly training
Volunteer recognition

Volunteer commitment is 5 to 40 hours per week.
