Foster Grandparent Program

FHSU has sponsored the Foster Grandparent Program since 1997. As an AmeriCorps Seniors Grantee, FHSU is committed to supporting the social and economic needs of communities in our region by enriching the lives of those we serve as well as those who serve. Volunteers for our program must have a desire to help children, be 55 years of age or older, and be able to pass the required National Service Criminal History Checks.

AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers serving with the Fort Hays State University Foster Grandparent Program serve in preschool and K-12 classrooms to help guide students to higher academic achievement and support children's emotional and social development through one-on-one mentoring and tutoring.
